Lack of Funding Stopped Uru for Mac Port
As reported by Gadren at DPWR.net: Today, Cyan Worlds updated its letter that cancelled the Mac version of URU, shedding light on the company Havok, which should not be entirely blamed, and casting a suspicious eye upon Ubisoft: http://www.cyanworlds.com/?page=macuru "This just in...
Apparently Cyan was "out of the loop" with regard to certain negotiations that went on between our publisher and the physics engine developer. Go figure. We've been made aware of this by the physics engine developer who felt a bit unjustifiably accused in our statement above. They have informed us that the hitch in the negotiations (and therefore no Mac version of their physics engine) revolved around a lack of funding - no one was willing to pay for one." Once again, "lack of funding" affects the URU world." Thanks, Gadren.

Upcoming Interview with Kha'tie
Aquila wrote to The Lyst: "Hi all, As you may, or may not know.....Kha'tie has been a Myst Community Manager for over a year now :) So, I thought it would be cool to do an Interview with her to see how her first year has gone. But rather than me thinking up all the questions... I thought it would be much more interesting if The Lysts interviewed her as a whole :) So, I've put up a form that can be accessed at:
http://www.thelysts.com/questions/forms/form1.html
"Simply enter your Lyster Name, (This will be published), and a question that have for Kha'tie. All questions will be screened for appropriate content, and any similar questions will be combined, (All names will be published as asking the question). I'll set the cut-off date as December 17th, but it might go past that dependant upon everyone's schedule. Once all questions are collated, I'll sent them to Kha'tie via email for her answers :) Once I receive the answers, I'll then publish the full interview at Thelysts.com site :) Thanks for reading, Aquila"

Mysterium 2005 Dates Announced

Scraper wrote to The Lyst: " !shorah.
Now that the community has chosen Chicago for the location of Mysterium 2005, people are asking for the dates. After careful consideration of the scheduled events in Chicago, it has been determined that the best dates will be July 22-24, 2005.
"Mysterium is an annual gathering of fans of Uru and the Myst series. Many Mysterium attendees are members of online communities centered around the games. They have grown to be friends online, and Mysterium gives them a chance to meet face to face.
"We sincerely hope that everyone can attend this gathering!

Riven Collage
RIUM+ sent this to The Lyst: "Shorah all. I've spent the past few weeks cooking something up, and now that I'm happy with it I thought I had better show it off. 3816 individual different screenshots of Riven and over 7 GB of hard drive space later, I'm FINALLY happy with it :p First off, here's the source image - a shot of the Riven Village. http://members.optusnet.com.au/riumplus/villageoriginal.jpg
Aaaand this is what I've created- a photomosaic collage of the same scene, built out of a total of 9450 little screenshots. (it's been resized to be more web-friendly but I have a fullsize version)
http://members.optusnet.com.au/riumplus/village.jpg
Here's a close-up of the top-left corner. It's the two huts towards the top-middle of the image. (and all those tiles that look very similar are various journals at different pages)
http://members.optusnet.com.au/riumplus/villagecloseup.jpg
Just thought I should share this with y'all, get some feedback and see if you have any ideas about what I should do with it. With Cyan's approval I could sell posters of these, not that anyone would want one
though. RIUM+"

D'ni League of Activities Forum Locked
Here's the beginning of the post by Maztec: "Sorry, but I am sick and tired of the UU infighting and will not put up with being told what to do with my own forums. While I do not agree with all that my organizers have ever said, I am also not going to put up with the countless negative responses to things people in this organization do - both good and bad. The D'ni Activities website is being reorganized and will be back up within a month. Until then I will leave the forums locked. At that time I will consider whether or not to unlock the forums or remove them in entirety. The organization itself is being redone."

New Transmission From D'ni Explorers Guild

"The following transcript is from an Explorers Guild meeting in the Tokotah Building, lead by Deg. This transcript is also available at Recent downtime and tunnel collapse. As most of you are aware, recently one of the tunnel walls collapsed. Luckily no one was injured, but our data cabling to the Surface was damaged. This caused an outage in KI functionality as well as downtime for our web site and forum. Since then, Odo's team has been working hard and has successfully restored the web site, forum, and records database. There are still more repairs that need to be done, but the D'ni Explorers Guild web site can temporarily be accessed at http://explorersguild.abstractpenguin.com/
"Several members of the Guild have been working on enhancements to the site, as well as implementing more stable access methods. I strongly encourage any explorers interesting in helping the Guild to send me an
e-mail, PM, or KI message. We've got a lot of great plans, and could use some extra hands getting our archives prepared for the new year.
"In closing, I'd like to thank everyone who has showed their continued interest and support in the Guild. It sounds like we've got an awesome year ahead of us. I also want to emphasize the importance of safety in
this upcoming year. The wall collapse is an example of how dangerous it is down here. I advise the use of the hard hats provided at the Tokotah Rooftop.
"Again, thanks everyone for your hard work. I look forward to our continued explorations!"

Latest Word on Explorers Guild

For those wondering what is happening with the Explorers Guild, this came in from Deg this morning: "Right now the D'ni Explorers Guild web site is down due to problems with the domain name. All of the data is still intact, but unaccessible from the web. I had hoped to have it working again at this time, but the domain name transfer is still pending release from the former registrar. I'll post a temporary address (or maybe a new one) to the site once it gets set up. Thanks to everyone who has asked me about the site. I'm glad to see there's still interest in it out there. Cheers, - Deg -" Thanks, Deg. Good luck!
